Julio Cesar Chavez Sr brutally slammed Jake Paul’s performance against Mike Tyson, claiming the YouTube star didn’t ‘throw one punch all fight.’

Paul extended his professional boxing record to 11-1 last November after defeating the former heavyweight world champion. Despite failing to get the knockout victory, the ‘Problem Child’ went on to cruise to a convincing victory on points. While millions of fans tuned in on Netflix, several supporters in attendance left the arena before the official result was even announced.

Regardless of the stick Paul has received, the social media sensation returns to action on June 28 – taking on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The two boxing stars clashed at the official launch press conference on Wednesday night ahead of their mouthwatering showdown next month.

However, it was Chavez Sr who grabbed the headlines and stole the show. The former multiple-time world champion was seemingly one of those who tuned into Paul’s clash with Tyson last year and was left unimpressed by the American’s performance at the AT&T Stadium. “Jake Paul is young and strong,” Chavez began.

“But he’s never faced a fighter like my son. With all due respect, I think fighting Mike Tyson… I would’ve given him a better fight. He didn’t throw one punch all fight. How can you win without throwing punches? Tyson only threw punches in the first round. Who did Jake Paul beat that night?”

Chavez Jr ended a three-year hiatus last July to defeat former UFC middleweight contender Uriah Hall in what was the former WBC middleweight champion’s first fight at cruiserweight. Paul – who rarely minces his words when it comes to his opponents – was quick to fire verbal shots at his upcoming foe on Wednesday evening.

“I’m going to shock the world once again and prove how good I am, how powerful I am,” Paul said. “This is his toughest fight to date, and I’m going to embarrass him and make him quit like he always does.” He added: “I don’t want any excuses, and when I beat this man all the boxing media, like you guys always do, are going to discredit it. But I’m gonna expose him and I’m gonna embarrass him. He’s the embarrassment of Mexico. Mexico doesn’t claim him.

“He’s going to get exposed on June 28, and then the boxing media will have all these excuses but I don’t want them to be having these excuses. They say he’s training hard, they say this is the most focused he’s ever been, good. As he should be, because people don’t realize how good I actually am, and when he feels those first few punches he’s going to want to quit and go back to his stool.”
