As their hit duet “You Look Like You Love Me” continues to make waves, Ella Langley and Riley Green are continuing their run as a musical dynamic duo.
During a recent live show, the two took the stage together to perform a duet — and it wasn’t “You Look Like You Love Me.”
Green introduced the song, called “Don’t Mind If I Do,” by revealing that it was a new one he wrote, and it was their first time ever performing it together.
“We’ve got a big song together. Some of y’all may have heard that one,” Green said, to cheers from the crowd. “But we also have another song that we haven’t played in front of anybody before. We’re thinking about playing it in front of y’all tonight, if y’all don’t mind.”
“So wish us luck here, and if we mess it up, don’t post it,” he joked.
Like their first duet, “Don’t Mind If I Do” is traditional-leaning country, with the two singers trading storytelling from a male and female perspective. But while “You Look Like You Love Me” centered around a light-hearted pickup line, “Don’t Mind If I Do” unpacks the heartache two people feel after a breakup.
Green begins with tears in his beer, wishing he could simply stop by his ex’s house and tell her he stills love her. The more he drinks, the closer he gets to reaching out — and by the time Langley’s part comes in, it’s pretty clear that there might still be hope for the relationship.
Most recently, Langley and Green dropped the Western-themed music video for “You Look Like You Love Me.” The clip features a cameo from Jamey Johnson.
This week, Green announced his next album, also called Don’t Mind if I Do. The project is set for release on Oct. 18, which also happens to be the singer’s birthday.
