American Idol Top 10 contestant, John Foster, took to Facebook to address a few pieces of misinformation that have been circulating about him.
“For the sake of all of my family (followers) getting to know me better,” he began, “I’d like to clear up some misinformation that has been spreading on Facebook.”
Foster first clarified that he’s not 24 years old. He’s actually just 18 years old and contrary to what people believe, he proudly hails from Addis, Louisiana, not Benton, Kentucky.
“I’ve never even been to Kentucky,” he wrote, though he added it’s on his list to visit someday.
He then confirmed he is not related to country icon Dwight Yoakam and is not currently signed to Sugar Hill Records or any other label.
“There was some misinformation that Dwight Yoakam signed me under Sugar Hill Records,” the aspiring singer/songwriter explained.
Foster wrapped up his message by encouraging fans to reach out to him directly with any questions and kindly reminded them not to trust information that doesn’t come directly from his official page with the blue checkmark next to it.

At the end of the day, he wants to make sure that his growing fanbase gets to know him more as a person now that they’ve gotten the chance to see his musical talent through his journey on American Idol.
“If you have any questions about me, try commenting them under this post. Either I or someone who knows me well will likely answer you! God Bless!” he wrote in conclusion.
Viewers first came to know Foster when he auditioned with a medley of two classic country songs – “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” by George Jones and “Goodbye Time” by Conway Twitty. These songs allowed the judges to see his talent and send him through to Hollywood.
Watch his cover of Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time” below.
Since then, he has continued to captivate America’s votes with songs like “In Color” by Jamey Johnson, Garth Brooks’ “Callin’ Baton Rogue” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Neon Moon,” as well as a touching original song titled “Tell That Angel I Love Her.”
Over the weekend he advanced in the competition, first moving into the Top 12 with his rocking performing of Elvis Presley’s 1957 hit “Jailhouse Rock,” on Sunday night.
On Monday, he took a major step when he delivered his first performance without his guitar. He won over the judges and America when he paid tribute to an iconic American Idol moment with his rendition of Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis’ “I Told You So,” which the pair performed together on the show back in 2009.

With his talent, authenticity, and now a spot in the Top 10, John Foster is proving he’s here to stay.
Fans can tune into American Idol on ABC on Sunday, May 4 to catch John Foster join his fellow remaining contestants in celebrating iconic women in music through their “Ladies’ Night” themed performances. America will vote live to determine who gets to move on in the competition in the Top 8, getting them one step closer to becoming the next American Idol.
