Alan Jackson’s headlining set at the Two Step Inn Festival in Georgetown, Texas, on Saturday night (April 5) came to an unexpected pause—thanks to a spontaneous moment that fired up the crowd.
During his performance in front of a packed audience, the country legend encouraged fans to “climb over them fences,” causing such a stir that the concert was temporarily shut down. Security quickly stepped in to regain control, and the show resumed shortly after.

The appearance was a special one for Jackson—it marked his debut at the beloved festival and, with retirement on the horizon, may be his last time taking that stage. One thing’s for sure: Alan went out with a bang.
Alan Jackson’s set took an unexpected turn during his performance of the 2008 hit “Good Time.” As the energy in the crowd soared, Alan leaned into the moment, telling fans to “climb over them fences and dance up and down these aisles.” He added with a grin, “I don’t care. Let’s have a good time.”
But not everyone was on board with the party vibe. As fans began climbing fences and rushing toward the stage, event organizers quickly stepped in. According to attendees, Jackson’s microphone was abruptly cut off, and the show was temporarily shut down—bringing the wild moment to a sudden stop.
At first, fans were unsure—hesitant to make a move. But Alan Jackson wasn’t backing down. “Come on, y’all! Let’s have a good time!” he called out, turning up the energy. That was all it took. One by one, attendees began hopping over barricades and dancing in front of the stage, while a lone security guard stood by, clearly overwhelmed.
At one point, Jackson even pleaded with security, saying, “Come on, man. Let the girl dance.”
The moment quickly went viral—but things took a more serious turn when the show was temporarily halted. Later, Jackson returned to the stage to offer a heartfelt apology:
“Sorry, y’all. I was just wantin’ to have a good time,” he told the crowd, earning cheers for his honesty and classic laid-back charm.
According to attendees, after Alan Jackson wrapped up his performance of “Good Time,” event organizers paused the show for about 5 to 7 minutes to clear fans from the restricted area near the stage. The move didn’t sit well with many in the crowd, who felt the moment was all in good fun and that Alan’s call for fans to enjoy themselves was harmless.
“The 5-minute pause during the show really ruined the vibe,” one concertgoer wrote online. “If no one’s getting hurt, then just let them be.”
Another chimed in, backing Alan with full support: “If Alan says it’s not a security issue, it ain’t a security issue.”
Fans didn’t hold back their frustration online following the unexpected pause in Alan Jackson’s show. Comments poured in, with some calling it “the most disrespectful buzzkill” and slamming organizers for “cutting Alan off.” One person wrote, “Two Step Inn knows how to ruin a show,” while another added, “Imagine not letting people have a good time!” Perhaps the most telling remark of all: “One of his last shows in Texas, and C3 cuts his mic mid-song. Not a good look.”

But the night wasn’t without its heartfelt moments.
In one of the most touching scenes of the evening, Alan’s wife of 45 years, Denise, made a rare appearance on stage. As Alan began to sing his beloved hit “Remember When,” he asked his band to continue without him and called Denise up for a sweet, slow dance under the stage lights. The couple swayed gently together, shared a kiss, and gave the audience a glimpse into the love story behind the music.
Alan then returned to the mic to finish the song, with the crowd cheering louder than ever.
